Nick Rode is a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast from Fredericksburg, Texas. He started riding in 1995 and has never looked back. His first dual sport experience was in the forests of South Carolina while stationed at Charleston NWS. Nick loves dual sport and adventure bikes for the ability to go anywhere and explore the roads less traveled. He is First Aid and CPR certified. He has ridden almost every public dirt road he can find in the Texas Hill Country as well as parts of Northern New Mexico, Southwest Colorado, the forests of South Carolina, and the entire length of the Baja Peninsula.
Our Story
It all started with a question... Where can you ride dirt in the middle of Texas?

With the lack of public forest and BLM lands in our state, the opportunities to ride on dirt seemed few and far between. Having grown up in the Hill Country, Nick knew of some local roads that were still un-paved. He started riding those and soon discovered there were more.

Next the question became... How far can we go?

Nick spent countless hours working through Google Earth, GPS Mapping, and Texas State Maps looking for un-paved public roads. He would map out potential routes and then ride them. Sometimes the roads had been paved over. Other times the roads shown on the map didn't exist in real life. Over time he was able to piece together hundreds of miles of un-paved tracks throughout central Texas. The goal always being to have as little interruption in the dirt as possible.

Along the way Nick met other riders from Austin and San Antonio that wanted to ride dirt, but just didn't know where to go. That's when Dirt Drifters was born.
